Shepton Mallet 10K

The Harriers were out again in force both running and officiating at this year's Shepton Mallet 10km and Fun Run.  Race organiser, Sue Cook, would like to thank the club for again supporting the event with equipment and helpers, particularly Kaye Watts who take over the organising of the event next year!  Performances to note were overall 10km winner - Rob Parfitt 34:59, Nick Somerville, 4th overall and 1st Male Vet - 36:41, Tracey Halliday 2nd Lady and 1st Female Vet in 45:38 who also went round the course afterwards on her bike as official Sweeper!  Marion Colman was first V45 in 47:49 and Cath Goldsmid finished in 52:56 giving the ladies the team prize, narrowly defeating Avon Valley Runners by 2 points!  James Mellanby was 9th in 38:40 and 3rd member of winning male team prize,  Stuart Marsh 13th and 2nd V50 39:29 who as usual cycled from Glastonbury and back just to prove how fit he really is!  Karl Watts finished 17th in 41:05, Ian Liversidge was 24th in 43:31, Martin Bailey 25th in 44:42, Alasdair Bell 27th and just ahead of Tracey in 45:30, Adam Hawkins 85th in 57:45 and Corinne Hawkins 71st and 59:04 both of whom have regularly participated in the event.  Nick's son, Joel Somerville was 3rd in the 1500m in 06:10 and won the prize for being first Local Boy.
