Harriers still smiling after last Thursday's hard training session! (photo by Al)
Last Thursday (30th July) the Harriers held their first formal training sessions since lock-down back in March. Numbers have been limited to start with whilst we test out our procedures and make sure we can all stay safe following UK Govt and England Athletics Guidance. The Thursday sessions are open for Harrier members to book a place and take place at the Strode Sports Centre field from 6pm onwards. Read on to follow instructions to reserve a place. We also have news and links to the track & field competition being hosted by our partner club, Yeovil Olympiads, at the end of the month – get your spikes on!
There was a good spirit amongst the Harriers meeting up for training at Strode last Thursday and following the protocols required of us for safe distancing – we were allowed to overtake with the 2m social distancing gap recognised! Senior Harrier coach Jon James led the session and has now drawn up a Thursday schedule which can sit alongside the Tuesday training plan already published.(For the Tuesday plan you should do that session either on your own or with a small group of others - no more than 6 people - in a public area). For the Thursday session we have booked use of a facility where we can consider Covid-19 precautions to be in place, have a Risk Assessment agreed with the Facility, and can operate with a ratio of 1 Harrier coach per 12 attendees.

TRACK & FIELD COMPETITIONS COMING UP IN YEOVIL
Because of the Coronavirus pandemic YOAC had to cancel their spring open and hurdles festival. The Yeovil Games, however will be replaced by two smaller open meetings - on Saturday 29th August we are holding a Summer Field Events Open (excluding pole vault) and on Saturday 5th September they hope to have a Summer Track Meeting and they are currently in the process of applying for a licence for that date.
