Wells City Harriers

"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

Runners line up at the start line

Entries are now open for Wells Festival of Running taking place on 11 September 2022.

The festival will include a 10km and 5km road race, as well as a 3.2km run and a one-mile fun run for junior runners.

Previously held in May, the popular local races return for the first time since 2019 with a new early autumn date.

The race starts in the beautiful Market Place under the gaze of two medieval gateways - the Penniless Porch and the Bishop’s Eye. A fast and furious grandstand finish is guaranteed alongside the Bishop’s Palace moat.

Course description

At the end of the cycle path runners will take a left through the village of Dulcote before reaching Constitution Hill – the only, but challenging, climb in the course.

Coming down the other side of Constitution Hill runners are directed left alongside the Bishop’s Palace moat for a flat and fast finish.

The 10km course is two laps of the 5km course.

The one-mile fun run starts at the Market Place and down the High Street, left onto Broad Street and St John Street before returning towards the centre via Silver Street finishing along the Bishop's Palace moat.

The 3.2km race is two laps of the fun run.
