Wells Harrier Laura Parker gained her full England senior vest when she competed at the Loughborough international recently in the 3000m steeplechase. Her selection for the England team comes after several good performances over the winter at cross-country and then at early season track meetings. Laura has trained and competed with Wells since the age of 13 and has made excellent progression into the senior ranks.
She becomes the Club’s sixth athlete to gain either a senior England or Team GB vest. She has just celebrated her 20th birthday and her time of 10.28 for the steeplechase places her 9th for all time since records began for the u23 age group. Laura has also lowered her 1500m and 3000m track times this year to new personal bests and is now in the top ten U23 women in the country with her 1500m time of 4.24. Her performances over 2009 gained her the Club’s senior woman athlete of the year, and based on current form there is no stopping her.
Well done Laura!
