Medals galore at County Championships, whilst Chris wins at Wambrook and Elise goes top ten in UK again

Wells City Harrier members were busy again this past weekend. Many of the juniors were at the County Athletic Association Track & Field Championships, whilst a good number of seniors were running at a 10km multi-terrain race near Chard. Several of the juniors, competing as part of the combined Yeovil & Wells track & field team came away with medals from the Championships or achieved personal bests. All that training and coaching on a Monday evening is paying off! Also Elise Thorner has another top ten national ranking from her race at Solihull. Chris Green won the multi-terrain race at Wambrook whilst Nick Weaving continues to lead the Somerset Race Series.

At the County Champs, u17 Vicky McCabe continued her winning performances at Long Jump and 100m sprints with marks of 5.30m and 13.23. U17 Dylan Dukes won Gold in the 3000m with 9.22. U15 Holly Bigger won two silvers with 27.87 for 200m and 2.25 for 800m. U15 Toby Watson ran a pb for the 1500m for bronze with 4.43. In the u13s, Ollie Bishop won bronze for 100m in 14.97, and was 4th in the 1500m, just behind team mate Bradley Glover, 5.02. More details to follow. Full results on County AA website and will also be on power of ten website. Our thanks to the County Secretary, David Cooke, and all of the volunteer officials and helpers who make sure that events like this go so smoothly.
