Great running by the Harriers at the London Marathon! Well done Philip Bridge on his 2.33 clocking; and to Harrier Life member Elspeth Turner, 1st F50. Remember: Pub Run this Wednesday 26th

What a great day for running last Sunday (23rd April) when 9 current members of the Harriers plus one of our Hon Life members toed the start line at the London Marathon! u23 athlete Philip Bridge, currently studying at Exeter University, ran a great even paced race for his 106th position and time of 2.33 - not bad out of 40,000 finishers! Also having a pb experience was Elspeth Turner, one of Honorary Life members for her contribution to Somerset Athletics, who finished 1st F50 overall in a nippy little time of 2.57. Elspeth now lives down in Sussex and competes for Horsham Blue Star Club.

Tom Dukes ran a good 2.47 which is a personal best, so all that hard training paid off. Squeezing in under the 3 hour mark was one of the Club's top V50 male athletes, when John Glaisher ran 2.59. Just missing out on that mark was Andrew Tindal, with his 3.00 pb clocking, and also close to the 3-hour mark were Damien Pick, 3.02, and Neil Biss, 3.05.

Katrina Prior ran a good solid race for 3.45, with Simon Carr back in 4.09 and Melissa Aspinall back in 4.29 on her debut at the distance. That was some great running by all of the Harriers with the usual superb support and atmosphere to take in! No doubt some will re-double their efforts for next year and look to take a minute or two off their times.

In the London Mini Marathon, covering the final 3 miles of the longer route (from Smithfield to the finish line) was u14 Toby Watson running as part of the select 6 person South west region team. He had a great time running the course with excellent support along the way.
