"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

There was a good turn out of old and young at this year's edition of the Christmas track parlauf where runners were paired up to have a go at covering as many laps of the track as possible in 30 minutes. Andrew Bishop and Nathan Young were the outright winners - Andrew is a parent who has been bringing his 11 year old son to the Monday sessions for the past year or so and both he and his lad have made great progress. Nathan needs little introduction as a true running machine. Between them they ate up the track and left all in their wake. Simon will compute the results and we will place them on this report when they are available. (photo below by Paul of the nervous parlaufers before the event!)

Paul recalls the first time he took part in the Harrier Track parlauf almost exactly 25 years ago, masterminded by Clive & Angela: "It was held at the track on Christmas Day at 10.00am and it was snowing. Unsurprisingly there was probably not that many there but it was quite a novelty to us. Clive had been used to his old Club organising one on Christmas Day and he saw no reason not to hold it on the same day! We had mince pies and mulled wine afterwards which did little to replenish the energy just used up - It certainly got Christmas Day off to a great start"

Jumping for joy at the prospect! (They weren't jumping afterwards!)

After the event over 20 of the Club members went for a tasty curry and drink at the Street Inn. Many thanks to Hannah and Rex Whitcombe for arranging that. Our thanks to Simon assisted by Al and Bernard's dad and others for organising the parlauf.

Team positions and times etc will be inserted here when available
